After two years, the highly anticipated Spiegel Fest, sponsored by Baker Tilly Staples Rodway is making its grand return to New Plymouth. As a highlight of TAFT’s four arts festival model, this year’s festival promises an unforgettable experience with the unveiling of their hero show, Rouge.
A Circus for Grown-Ups (R18+), Rouge is a riotous celebration of sensational acrobatics, operatic cabaret, and cheeky burlesque. This non-stop extravaganza promises to be a feast for the senses—a blend of the astonishing, the surprising, and the downright sexy. With seven performances scheduled, Rouge is set to be a highlight of the festival and a guaranteed sell-out sensation.
Megan Brown, Festival Director says people can expect another diverse programme; “Over 11 busy days and nights, we’ve got circus, music, DJs, comedy and a host of family shows to look forward to. There will be some familiar faces from past festivals and lots of exciting new performances with a mix of local, national and international shows – something for everyone, in Taranaki’s favourite venue”.
TAFT CEO Suzanne Porter says Spiegel Fest is the perfect occasion to gather friends, whānau, and colleagues to celebrate the festive season. “The timing and ambiance make it perfect for Christmas parties and gatherings. Given that it’s one of our most popular festivals, we encourage everyone to secure their tickets early to avoid missing out.”

THE SPIEGELTENT
The Pacific Crystal Palace Spiegeltent itself is an impressive space that must be experienced. The Crystal Palace is a travelling 330-seat performance venue made up of 3000 pieces. The 40-tonne palace is based on the Belgium-designed Spiegeltent of the 19th century; it features the same magic as the European style, although it is brushed with hints of Kiwiana culture.
With New Zealand ferns on the ornate mirrors, paua carved into the wooden pillars and gorgeous stained glass windows featuring harakeke, the Crystal Palace is a lavish space that will whisk you away and leave you smiling.
